CHANGZHOU (Reuters) - Chile's Enami Mining plans to form an alliance with six international firms to boost the Salares Altoandinos
lithium project in the Atacama region, overseas media have learnt. The finalists cover industry giants from China, South Korea, France
and Australia, including BYD, Zhongwei, LG Energy Solution, POSCO, Eramet and Rio Tinto.
The companies were selected from a group of 12 that expressed interest in the project. In the upcoming negotiations, Enami will share
its $10.5 million worth of exploration results and seek effective communication with indigenous groups. The company aims to establish
a public-private partnership by March 2025 to facilitate the operation and financing of the project.
The Chilean government is actively inviting private investors to participate in its lithium industry in order to achieve the goal of doubling
the country's lithium production over the next decade, and the Altoandinos region is a key part of this strategy. By increasing investment,
it will not only boost economic growth, but also help Chile maintain its leadership position in the global lithium market.
