Chile's National Copper Industry plans to invest $720 million in renovating underground copper mines

According to foreign media reports, Codelco is planning to invest another $720 million to renovate an important copper mine under its management. The main goal of this renovation is to increase production and ensure the continuous operation of the mine.

The company has proposed a rectification plan for the Chuquicamata underground copper mine project. The purpose of this plan is to achieve an authorized production capacity of 140000 tons per day. In a statement submitted to the authorities, Chile's National Copper Corporation added: "The proposed operational changes to the underground and surface mines will not change the initial authorized mining and processing speed of the project." This indicates that although the company plans to carry out large-scale renovations, this will not change the initial operating plan of the mine.

The renovation plan includes upgrading and improving mines, mineral processing plants, and other infrastructure.
